Project History, Plastics The following is a sample of the plastics manufacturing and handling projects performed by ACE Automation employees. In addition to programming, typical jobs required investigation of existing plant operations, writing of the functional specification for system design, engineering services, and installation of the hardware, user training, and startup. Hydraulic Press Molding Machine - Texas Created PLC and HMI package to control plastics part molding. Used EXCEL to create profiles (recipes) of the times, temperatures, and pressures for up to 50 steps in creating various parts. The selected profiles were downloaded to the PLC from EXCEL through WonderWare InTouch. HMI graphics included press control and trending. Programmed in OMRON CPT and WonderWare InTouch. Ceramic Development Line - Texas Developed PLC program to control mixing and extruding of ceramic parts. Created 6 dry powder, 3 liquid measurement, mixing, and extruding subsystems working together to automate this new production line. Developed interfaces to Jaguar weigh scales and used Profibus to control various motor starters. Programmed in APT. Plastics Manufacturing Plant – Texas Assisted in converting an existing 5TI PLC program to Siemens 435. Modified program to reduce scan time and used immediate inputs to provide more precise control of conveyor position. Programmed in TISOFT.
